About Kollam

A saying goes like this “Once you see Kollam, you will not need home anymore”. True to the saying Kollam a trade town in the past and is a major Cashew Processing Hub. Banked on the banks of the river Ashtamudi on one side and the Arabian Sea on the other, this destination is a traveler’s paradise. The narrow strip of palm trees and sand barriers which separate the backwaters from the sea. It is also a major fishing harbour. Kollam Beach is a major attraction. Thangasseri or Dutch Quilon, as it was known in the past. Portuguese and Dutch used this as their trade point. The lighthouse which stands tall at a height of 144 feet, built-in 1902, is a tourist attraction.
